Colorescience Uses Nanotechnology to Bring High Tech Sun Solutions

A breakthrough in technology! Nano means very, very small. A nanometer is a billionth of a meter. By comparison, the human hair is 100,000 times thicker. When materials are made this small, they have different properties than their super size versions.

Nanoparticles scatter and refract the light offering SPF properties in colore cosmetics that can be used on a daily basis. Nanotechnology is used by Colorescience to help promote sun protection, prevent photo aging and help the skin look younger and better longer.

Sun Protection

Physical Sunblock... It's in there! Colorescience is a full spectrum sunscreen protecting your skin from harmful UVA, UVB and infrared rays. This product stays on all day and is rated "very water resistant!"

The key to physical sun protection is micronized titanium dioxide and micronized zinc oxide. Found naturally in minerals, neither will clog pores nor dry the skin. Both are quite remarkable in that they allow light to pass through the visible ray region (light is needed for healthy development of skin) while intercepting ultraviolet rays. Both ingredients guard against the damaging effects of ultraviolet rays, while giving the skin a natural looking, flawless finish. Research shows that both provide a natural barrier to UVA and UVB radiation without irritating, burning or stinging the skin.

Colorescience is all about firsts!

Founder Diane Richardson Ranger was first to create the loose mineral makeup concept all the way back in 1976. Diane was the first to rate minerals, initially with an SPF 15 in 1992 and then with an SPF 20 in 1995. Recently Diane and Colorescience introduced another first: an SPF 30 clear powder sun protection, based on Nanotechnology.

Diane was the first to package loose minerals in a “take it to go”, self-dispensing retractable, brush applicator that takes the mess out of loose minerals. Colorescience introduced some of the first airless pumps in which to package a cream product. The airless pump offers better delivery and requires less preservative.

Diane was the first to create a complete line of products in which each product boasts of active ingredients that are skin beneficial, the first to give you confidence that Looking Good is Good For Your Skin.

About the Founder

Diane Ranger is president and founder of Colorescience. Diane is a twenty-seven year veteran in the cosmetics industry. Diane has a master's degree from the University of Houston and over twenty years of cosmetic chemistry lab experience in research and development.

Diane entered the cosmetic business with her first brainchild, Bare Escentuals, which she founded in 1976. As president of Bare Escentuals, Diane spear-headed the growth of the specialty body care business. Diane single-handedly created the mineral makeup concept and the entire mineral makeup category. In 1990, Diane left Bare Escentuals to concentrate on her passion for mineral makeup product development.
